Accommodation

The first 4 days will be on the north coast during which you will stay at Mount Edgecombe Golf Lodge and the last 4 days will be on the south coast during which you will stay at the San Lameer Unreal Estate. Click on the links below if you want to see more detail.

First Leg:

Mount Edgecombe Golf Lodge

The cuisine at Mount Edgecombe is refreshingly original and we enjoy spoiling our guests with the local specialties. Over wholesome and hearty breakfasts, guests discuss their plans and requirements for the day with our hosts. The Shaka Zulu Golf Tour ITINERARY

 

DAY 1 SATURDAY (approximately midday arrival)

Golfers only
We will meet you at the Durban International Airport and then Head north to your luxury hotel at Mount Edgecombe which will be your home for the first three nights. Your first afternoon will be at leisure for you to settle in and familiarise yourself with your surroundings. We will ease the day out with a cocktail and a early night.

We will meet you at the Durban International Airport and then head north to your luxury Zimbali Chalets which will be your home for the first four nights. Your first afternoon will be at leisure for you to settle in and familiarise yourself with your surroundings. We will ease the day out with a cocktail and an early night in.

Golfers and non golfers tour (non-players itinerary)
We will meet you at the Durban International Airport and then head north to your luxury Chalets at Zimbali which is located within the Zimbali Coastal Forest Estate where you will stay for your first three nights. Your first afternoon will be at leisure for you to settle in and to familiarise yourself with your surroundings. We will ease the day out with a cocktail and an early night in.

Mount Edgecombe

DAY 2 SUNDAY

Golfers only tour
Early morning at leisure, perhaps a lie in! Breakfast at 10:00. We then make our way to the Umgeni Bird Park followed by a trip to Sea World, for yet more breathtaking encounters with nature. Lunch is followed by an afternoon at the beach to relax and soak up the sun. Evening at leisure perhaps a few drinks under the stars.

We then make our way to the Umgeni Bird Park followed by a trip to Sea World, for yet more breathtaking encounters with nature. DAY 3 MONDAY

Golfers only tour
Breakfast is served at 8:00. First round of golf at either Durban Country Club or Zimbali Golf Club. The evenings entertainment and dinner at the "Sugar Mills Casino".

Breakfast is served at 08:00.Our first round of golf is at the Durban Country Club. Rated as the best course in South-Africa, along with a legendary atmosphere, there’s no better way to start the golfing week. The evening’s entertainment and dinner will be back at the Zimbali Estate.

After breakfast we head further north to experience the essence of Africa on Lake St. Lucia a world Heritage Site and home to 800 hippos and about 1500 Nile crocodiles. It’s a birdwatchers paradise! We will spend the morning aboard the Advantage Cruiser, facilities include: Satour Guide, DTR Skipper, toilets and a Bar. Comfortable seats, ample walking space and animal & bird sounds in the back round. The cruiser goes at a very slow speed and offers excellent photographic opportunities.
Just as you thought it couldn’t get any better we make a visit to Shakaland one of the greatest Cultural attractions in Africa, for a guided tour and Zulu dancing.

 


Durban Country Club

DAY 4 TUESDAY

Golfers only tour
Early breakfast at 7:30 followed by 18 holes of golf at Mount Edgecombe. At 3:00 we pack up and head south to the San Lameer Golf Estate, your home for the rest of your stay. Evening at leisure.

An 8 o’clock breakfast is complimented by 18 holes of golf at the beautifully manicured Mount Edgecombe Golf Club. Evening entertainment and dinner at the Sugarmill Casino a mere five minute drive from the course.

An early breakfast put us underway on our first trip, as we visit the Natal Sharks Board, the only organisation of its kind in the world. The Sharks Board conducts an audiovisual presentation and dissection. Variety of lifelike replicas of sharks, fish & rays, including that of an 892 kg Great White Shark can be viewed in the display hall.
We then make our way to the Gate Way Mall, the largest shopping mall in Africa, where you can literally “shop till you drop!” as the shear size promises to leave you gob smacked.

 


Mount Edgecombe

DAY 5 WEDNESDAY

Golfers only tour
Breakfast is followed by a round at Selborne Country Club. Afternoon spent at the Selborne Private Beach Club! Round off a wonderful day with dinner and a relaxing African Sundowner.

Early breakfast at 07:30 followed by a round of Golf at the breathtaking Zimbali Country Club. At 15.00 we pack up and head south to the San- Lameer Golf Estate, your home for the rest of your stay. Evening at Leisure.

THIS one’s for the ladies! , after breakfast we visit the Chantalee skin and body day Spa. It’s time to release any remaining stress and replenish energy, with a touch of Heaven! It includes nothing less than the following: Body Exfoliation, Hydro Treatment, Full Body Massage, Tea/ Coffee/ Juice, Clarins Paris Method Facial or Guinot Hydradermie, Lunch, OPI Spa Manicure (deluxe), OPI Spa Pedicure (deluxe), Make-up, Tea/ Coffee/ Cake. Then we sit back and enjoy the seemingly timeless journey down the coastline to our next destination at the San-Lameer Country Estate, which will be our stay for the rest of your holiday. DAY 6 THURSDAY

Golfers only tour
After breakfast its time for some serious golf at the San Lameer Country Club. The course lies on a large nature reserve, where the emphasis is on landscaping and conservation. Bird life abounds, with over 300 identified species and antelope are often seen. After a swim on a walk on the beach we will enjoy a traditional South African Braai (BBQ).

After breakfast its time for some serious golf at the San Lameer Country Club. The course lies on a large nature reserve, where the emphasis is on landscaping and conservation. Bird life abounds, with over 300 identified species, and antelope are often seen. After a swim and a walk on the beach we will enjoy a traditional S.A. Braai (BBQ).

Breakfast is followed by a very relaxing day at the San-Lameer Estate, with ample entertainment within the resort including a private beach, pools, tennis courts and endless more. DAY 7 FRIDAY

Golfers only tour
A tame breakfast and then we go WILD. We play our last game of golf at the Wild Coast Country Club, rated on the the best in the land. After a challenging day walking on the wild side you can relax as we go on a sunset "booze cruise" and enjoy our last braai aboard. Want to make a million? The last night at the casino. Tired? Well then its time for bed!

We go wild as after breakfast we spend the day at the Wild Coast Sun Casino and Resort. With non-stop fun and entertainment we explore this famous resort with its spectacular views and unique culture. Late afternoon we head off on a Sunset Booze Cruise perhaps an ice cold cocktail or two... Feeling lucky? Well then you have come to the right place, entire evening at leisure at the casino.

 


Wild Coast

DAY 8 SATURDAY

Golfers only tour
After breakfast we pack our bags and head north but there is one more stop, just to remind you of the African Spirit, we visit the Crocodile Farm. Home to more the 200 crocs. Then we say farewell to the South Coast and make our way to Durban International Airport for our goodbyes and departure.

Languages  
There are 11 official languages. The three languages commonly used in Kwa-Zulu Natal are: English, Afrikaans & Zulu.

Climate  
Umhlanga and the Sugar Coast is known for it’s sub-tropical climate throughout the year. Swimming can be enjoyed all year. Temperatures are warm with an average of 28°C in summer and 18°C in winter.

Currency 
Based on Rand (ZAR), consisting of 100 cent. 

Vat / Tax refund
Foreign visitors to South Africa are not exempt to pay VAT on goods purchased. VAT may be claimed back on items with a value of more than R250 when they are taken out of the country. Claims may be made at the airports, various harbors and customs offices on departure.
